What is the best camera to buy for an inspiring photographer?

Also, do you suggest I take some classes or try to learn it all on my own?

Best Answer

Pick a reputable brand, I recommend Canon or Nikon,
Read about their entry level D-SLR's...Canon XS, or XSi . Nikon D3000 or D5000
Then go to a camera store (or even Best Buy) and try them out. Take a few shots, see which one feels better in your hands.

As for learning how to use your camera, If you're a truely new photographer, try "Digital SLR's for dummies"
if that's too basic for you, check amazon for an unlimited selection of photography books. Read the reviews, and see what other users who are among your level of experience think about the book.
,

If you're looking for a simple answer, without having to think. I recommend the Canon XSi. available online for about $560 with an 18-55mm is starter lens.

If you can afford I would recommend Nikon D90, great semi-pro level camera
- Fast - focus, frames per second, and card access
- Great sensor, amazing colors out of the camera
- Auto D-lighting to restore shadowed regions
- Feels great in hand, very comfortable to hold
- The optical viewfinder is bright and big, with great coverage
- AF tracking points are easy to spot and switch to
- Great 320K dots LCD

but if you want cheaper, Nikon D5000 or Nikon D3000 are good choice.

Why waste your time and money taking some classes, there are sea of resources on internet. Go to the related forum to learn more, ask questions, share others' shooting technique. The global resource is just in front of you, take advantage of your right!

if you are an beginner, i do suggest you not to pick advanced Digital Camera which is not only a waste of money. save that one for later use when you are skilled.

so, to best satisfy your taste and need, please give a glance at the following link and you will be glad to save more money.
