How would you test a digital camera to make sure all the features worked on it?

I'm testing Digital cameras to make sure they're safe for resale. How could I test all the features on simple point and shoot Digital cameras to make sure that everything works properly?

Best Answer

Just insert a memory card and test each feature. Using a card reader, look at each file and see if each feature did indeed work.

That will be a very time consuming effort if you are re-selling many different makes and models. Not only will you have to test the features you will have to know what the features do so when you look at the images you can tell if the feature did or didnt work. Youll have to keep records of each photo taken so you know which feature was used for each image.

If youve purchased one of the skid loads of returned cameras available at various websites theres a good chance all have defects. The returns are analyzed before they hit the skids available to the general public. The manufacturers have most likely determined which cameras are complete trash. Those are offered on skids to the general public. If you own a repair shop you may be able to scavenge some parts to be used in repairs or use parts from several cameras of the same model to make one good camera. Cameras suitable for refurbishing the manufacturer keeps and sells when refurbished. Cameras which are fully functional are sold at a discount to retailers who sell used equipment.

Whatever your situation good luck in your endeavors.
