Why most pro choose this brands ?

Why most pro photographs choose Canon or Nikon photo cameras?
What about Sony @ brand? For example: Can we compair Canon 50D with Sony A700?
Or Nikon D300 with Sony A900?
Sidsid: i actually think Konica Minolta is or was o good brand, and Minolta is now Sony.

Nikon is the grandfather of pro level SLRs. Canon came later. Most pros use only one brand of camera because of the lens they buy.Canon lens won't fit on a Nikon body.
Sony is a new comer to the SLR world. It's not to say they don't make high quality cameras, as they do.And from what I've been told, Nikon cameras often use Sony technology.

"Nikon is the grandfather of pro level SLRs"

This is not true.I had a Reflex Korelle SLR that was made in the 1930s and then an Agiflex that was made in the 1940s/50s.
