why won't my Nikon D3000 read my SD HC Card?

For a while my camera has worked fine with the card I've only had it for a few days and now It says "This memory card cannot be used. Card may be damaged. Insert another card." it is a 16 gig SD HC card and it came Brand New with the camera, can anyone help?

Yikes a 16 gb card?

It may be that something happened to the card. Most all cards have from 10 year to lifetime warranties, so contact the maker of the card.

You may want to have four - 4 gb cards instead of one 16 gb. There are many reasons for splitting up the images you shoot into smaller cards so that 1) you remember to download the images more often to our computer, formatting the card after you are sure all the images are safely on the computer.

Did you format the card using the format feature on your camera?

Hahaha, don't worry about it. Its probably a product bug. This happens sometime with SDHC well becareful because some warranty does not cover SD HC because if they get shocked or the sensitive part is touched and messed the SDHC card won't work as well. Usually the sensors [the golden part] is mishandled, but companies usually replace this. I'd recommend a smaller size because you remember to take the photo out, as well as that bigger size means you are sacrificing speed. a 16gb would mean that you can only take a little amount of photography compared to a smaller memory, but with a higher writting rate
Solutions
1. try to format the card
2. Call the company.
3. Return the card from where you bought it.
If that doesn't work still have a good new year :)
